KBase Performance Metric Report 2025

In 2025, the KBase project was selected by DOE Biological and Environmental Research to prepare reports and a summary on progress for the Biological Systems Science Division (BSSD). The overall objective of the project has been to “develop advanced approaches to genomic data analysis for use on the KBase open access platform including AI/ML” and each of these reports summarizes progress on major themes of this work. Elisha M Wood-Charlson is KBase’s User Engagement Lead. She has a PhD and 10+ years of experience as a microbial ecologist focused on host-microbe-virus interactions in the marine environment. Since leaving the research bench, she has moved into the realm of scientific community engagement, with the goal of making microbiome data science more efficient through effective collaboration, building trust in online communities, and developing shared ownership throughout the scientific process.
